CRC is a needs-based, community-led organization. That is, we provide services where the need is greatest and where the community desires the services. CRC services are restorative in nature, promoting relationship building, violence prevention, stress reduction and healing from trauma for individual, family, and community wellbeing.

Every aspect of CRC services fosters connectedness and community, especially across differences. Individuals engage in difficult discussions that promote deep listening and empathy. Mediations, dialogues and circles, youth work, educationall foster new understanding that builds bridges and dismantles barriers.

Vision

CRC envisions a society in which each individual’s voice is valued and contributes to a compassionate and caring community.

Mission

CRC’s mission is to be unwavering in breaking down barriers and building bridges to honor each individual’s voice and their right to equity by creating spaces for transforming conflict into opportunity and harms into healing.

Organization History

CRC began in 1983 as a neighborhood mediation project in south Minneapolis, a product of the community mediation movement that rose out of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. CRC is a community dispute resolution program, which by definition provides services to individuals regardless of their ability to pay. In 2021, about 80% of CRC services were utilized by low-income individuals and families who are disproportionately represented by Black, Indigenous, and people of color. We are dedicated to providing opportunities that help combat and repair these inequities.
